Boho Chic....

Now that my degree has finished and my partner and I have made it to France for the summer I finally have the time to try my hand at something I have been dreaming about and researching for years...restoring and hand painting boho shabby-chic furniture. Luckily France is brimming over with the most beautiful vintage pieces just screaming out for someone to re-design them and give them a whole new lease of life. I will start a new blog/shop for my creations once I return to the UK but for the moment here is a sneak peak at a few pieces I have been working on. Bare in mind these are also my first attempts! Rome wasn't built in a day.....

The Avairy....

Well it has been a very busy week but that is sadly the end of my final years degree show. Six years of art school behind me....onwards an upwards.

Whilst I have been chattin the chat (shameless self promotion)  my wonderful partner in crime John Cheetham has been busy all week clicking boxes and adding photos to our brand spanking new etsy shop, yes that's right folks our very own shop enabling you wonderful people to peruse our wares and perhaps purchase something wonderful for your home without having to break your bank. Please go and check it out here, any feedback would be much appreciated. Enjoy!

Art on the River, Perth...

HOT!!!! It felt like we were stall holders in a market in Portugal today rather than Perth, Scotland! Still that is really nothing to complain about, until the plastic display folders containing your work start to melt...literally! Hastily moving them into shade we then continued to enjoy talking to people about our work and sitting in the sunshine for 8 hours straight. Good day, lets hope for more of the same tomorrow. Come and join us everyone!

Hanging...

My most hated, but  completely essential, part of showing work. Curation and hanging.  I have only one word to describe it, stressful....

Firstly a good few weeks before the real hanging I experimented with layout etc in a similar space.

Satisfied that I have enough work to fill the space adequately I then wait for the real day......

And on that day? Even more faffing and planning!

Devising a plan...
First one is the easiest!

Smaller pieces up, can't put off doing the bigger ones much longer!

So....heavy....

Finishing touches...

Thank you to John Cheetham and Isla McDonald who saved me from madness today.  Hanging is better with friends!
