Of fur and feathers..

A slow start to January. The 18th already...where does the time go?! This month I had an assessment at my university which has taken up most of my time. Now that it is out of the way I can focus more on completing a few more drawings. Pictures of that to follow.

My dog Gus must have had my drawings in mind when he brought me a dead falcon he found in the bushes whilst playing in the garden. I have no idea what happened to the bird or how it got there. It is very beautiful even in death.

The inspiration for my drawings comes from observing the natural world. For a long time I have been fascinated by patterns found within feathers. Once you have become aware of these patterns you can see them repeated all throughout nature. Now that I have become accustomed to drawing them my work often takes on a life of its own, growing naturally on the paper, mutating into an unrecognisable form that no longer resembles that which originally inspired it.
